How do I self-refer?
First of all you will need to check that you are eligible.
You need to be:
- Aged 25 or over
- Live in Greater Manchester
- Have the right to remain and work in the UK
- Not currently be in employment, self-employment
- Not currently be accessing any formal training
- Be experiencing at least two barriers such as mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness or risk of homelessness, criminal behaviour, physical health issues/disabilities, debt issues, domestic abuse.
You could be referred to us from an agency such as the Job Centre, GP, Citizen’s Advice, Probation Officer or any other health or support professional who thinks that Motiv8 could help you.
What happens after my referral has been submitted?
Once we have received your referral we may contact you to ask some questions. If we can’t assist we may refer you elsewhere.
If you meet our eligibility criteria a member of our attachment team will ask you to provide evidence of your right to live and work in the UK. If necessary they will help you obtain this.
Your attachment worker will work with you to create a personalised Needs Assessment and Action Plan.
You will be allocated a dedicated key worker who will provide you with individual support on every step of your journey. They will help you access whatever specialist support you need and will review your action plan on a regular basis.
Your journey will end once we have addressed the support needs outlined in your action plan and you have achieved a positive outcome. You may have moved closer to accessing volunteering, training, job search or employment.

If you have been with Motiv8 previously and left us to start training, job searching or employment, then you may not be eligible to return. Call us to confirm if you are eligible. If you cannot return to the programme, we will try and signpost you to another service.
